Arbor Complete Longboard
Carver Series
Koa Wood Top Sheet
Length: 46 inches
Width: 9.5 inches
Wheel Base: 32.25 inches
Flex: Med/Stiff
Complete includes: Arbor’s new 72mm 75a durometer Slalom Series wheels, ABEC 5 bearings, and 9” Gullwing Charger trucks.
Other: The classic tapered-carver - the Arbor Pin features a huge wheelbase for maximum stability at speed, and a wide, concaved mid-section for deep, open-stance, lock-n-hold skating. The Koa Pin is built with 7-plys of sustainably sourced Hardrock Maple for durable, lightweight performance, and a finish ply of sustainably sourced Hawaiian Koa to improve return and add that traditional Arbor style. Koa wood was used by the Hawaiians to build the first surfboards 1,000 years ago. Each deck is gripped with a long-lasting crushed recycled glass. This ultra clear grip surface allows the deck’s natural grain and color to remain highly visible, while providing better performance than silica bead alternatives. Arbor skates are made using an environmentally friendly water-based sanding sealer and finish coat. All wood byproduct created during production is reclaimed for use in other Arbor products or by outside companies. Arbor used a recent painting by artist, Blain Fontana to create the Koa Pin’s graphic and speak to the brand’s California roots.
Artist: Blaine Fontana
Fontana was born in Seattle, Washington USA and raised on Bainbridge Island (a small artistic community west of the city) where he was encouraged to use his imagination. This led him to develop a strong interest in several forms of art. During his teen years, he studied graphic design, photography, sculpture, and life drawing. Once he graduated high school, he attended OTIS College of Art and Design in Los Angeles, earning a Bachelor Degree of Fine Arts and graduating at the top of his class. After school, Fontana spent time working as an art director for Abound design firm, Metro.Pop magazine and Drifter apparel, before heading out on his own. His artwork has been showing frequently on the West Coast at galleries like Lineage, The Lab 101, Distinction, and Scribble Theory. He has handled design work for companies such as Ocean Pacific, Scion, Toyota, Kid Robot, and Nike, in addition to managing his own design studio. His work is rapidly receiving local and national interest and he is seen as a rising star within the art community.
ECO TECH
Sustainably Sourced Hardrock Maple Plys - Maple provides the best blend of durability and light-weight performance. It's also redially available and affordable, allowing us to offer a price point that is uncommonly low for an eco-product.
Bamboo Power Ply - Bamboo is a remarkably sustainable material. By adding it as a power-generating deck-side ply we not only give our skates a super clean, Zen flavor - but also provide our customers with improved return and lasting durability.
Recycled Glass - Crushed recycled glass is used in our clear re-grip to replace highly processed grip tapes - allows the natural grain to remain visible, while providing better performance than the silica bead-based alternatives.
Water-Based Finishes - All Arbor skates are produced using a water-based sanding sealer and final finish as the best way to help protect the air we all breath, especially when skating…
Recycled Plastic Risers - All Arbor completes are shipped with recycled plastic risers, which helps both Arbor and our customers reduce our reliance on petroleum and contribution to land fills.
Reclaimed Wood By-product - all wood by-product created during the production of our skates is reclaimed for use in other Arbor products or by outside companies, which helps stretch a key resource, while reducing the strain on land fills and forests.
About Arbor:
Since 1995, Arbor’s designs have been ecologically based, and for most of that time, the only environmentally friendly alternative available. Through the years, a lot of people have looked at what they do and thought - “tree-huggers.” They never fought the label too much - after all, the goal from the start was to do right by the planet. Yet, anyone who expected us fit the stereotype, was in for a surprise. Arbor is about riding - and a modern approach to environmental thinking; an approach that, today, is being embraced by the surf/skate/snow industry as a whole. Funny how times have changed.
