first rendition of a Fiberglass Maestro was durable, light, and just plain sexy. We loved it, and our customers did too. So much so, in fact, that we just could not make enough of them, mainly because of the difficulty involved in printing onto the fiberglass material. We searched high and low for a solution and finally found our answer in the snowboard industry. Sublimation, that is, meaning the graphic is tattooed into the top sheet for a vibrant and nearly indestructible print. Bustin tested the board with riders Steven Vera and Marc Rodriguez, master Maestro Destroyers, and they found this board to be about twice as durable, in terms of longevity, than even the first fiberglass Maestro!

In other words, they've outdone themselves and they're stoked to release the Maestro Fiberglass V2 with Sublimated Limited Edition Ishtar Backlund "Eyes" Graphic.

Limited Edition Sublimated Graphics:

The Limited Edition graphic is one of the prize points of this deck. They say beauty is only skin deep, not the case here. The graphic is sublimated into the fiberglass, providing excellent scratch resistance and giving life to the look and not just the performance. If you’ve ever gashed the top of your snowboard only to find that the graphic still shines through, you probably understand this process.

Bustin Boards has always been about family, and producing this board gave them an excellent opportunity to show off some of their family's art. Ishtar Backlund, a Swedish native, has been traveling the Americas for two Summers now and has spent lots of time with the Bustin Crew in NYC. During this time, they were exposed to not only an amazing personality but some incredible artistic skills as well. Ishtar leaves her mark wherever she roams, and now she has been immortalized on the Bustin Boards Fiberglass Maestro V2. Congrats, Ish!

With the aggressive nature of the construction of this board, Bustin decided to make the board itself a bit more aggressive as well. They squared the edges and are applying our laser cut grip tape all the way to the edge to provide more grip for slides. It makes the board look a little bit thicker, but because of the new construction, it actually weights a few ounces less than the V1. Whether you're cruising on your way to work or you're out for a day of thrashing, the look, feel, and performance of this deck has just gone up a notch.

Performance:

The Maestro has been Bustin's best selling board since it first released. It is the commuting deck of choice for team riders and an excellent freestyle deck being low to the ground and equipped with twin kicks. It is incredibly easy and comfortable to ride and is the deck of choice for around 75% of new riders who come into our flagship store and demo boards in front of the shop looking for a commuter deck. The board just sells itself. The forward camber assists when pushing, propelling the rider forward with every push and providing excellent control off the front foot.

Adding fiberglass into the mix increases pop and longevity and decreases torsional flex, giving you even more control over your board. Overall, the deck flexes just as much as the 7-ply Maestro, but provides a more stable and less saggy platform when just standing on it. You will sit a little higher when standing on the deck, but when weight is thrown on the board, it will flex and then pop back. This is the sign of a high performance flexible deck.

Supporting Skaters:

One of our key focuses throughout the development of this board was to create an ultra fun, ultra durable composite board that didn't rape the wallets of the skaters we roll with. Bustin makes longboards for skaters and they understand that most skaters live on a tight budget. Pricing this board at a reasonable price was a decision by the Bustin Crew to break away from some of the expensive standards set by other companies and support the people who supported them... the skaters!

At Bustin they’re all about progression and are obsessed with taking our products to the next level of engineering and design. They eat, sleep and breathe skateboarding and are constantly tweaking and changing their processes to make better products at better prices. Nonetheless, they do this all out of a love for life and their principles come first. To this day, all of their boards are made at our small East Coast woodshop using sustainable materials and processes. They’re proud to be able to say that this board is “Made in the USA for the WORLD” because that means they know exactly how they're made, who is making them and what they are made of. It’s about integrity and without that Bustin would be just another company flipping dollars.

About Bustin Longboards:

Bustin Boards is a grassroots company designed by skaters and run by skaters. Their longboard store is based in Brooklyn New York City (USA). Each of their longboards is pressed individually in a small, East Coast woodshop and hand printed and finished in their Brooklyn shop.
